Strengthening climate information and multi-hazard early warning systems for increased resilience

The COP29 will build on the momentum on underlining the importance of Early warning systems (EWSs), and High-Level meeting will especally put emphasis on the critical role of effective multi-hazard early warning, disaster risk knowledge and management, detection, observation, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting, warning dissemination and communication, including preparedness on combating climate implications, as well as, its contribution on saving lives, minimizing economic losses, and damage to infrastructure and enabling the timely integration of adaptation measures across policies, strategies, and plans.
It will also discuss the challenges and opportunities of strengthening national and regional early warning and anticipatory action systems for drought and flood prediction and mitigation of their impacts, lessons-learned for improving prevention, preparedness, resilience and recovery in response to climate hazards and disasters.
